Book your Advanced Open Water Course

Are you an Open Water Diver or equivalent and thought about completing your PADI Advanced Open Water Course?

To keep it simple, this week we are reviewing what is involved with the course.

To enter into the course, you must hold an PADI Open Water Diver certification or an equivalent from another agency.

There are 5 Adventure dives which need to be completed and each Adventure dive has a Knowledge Review to be completed with it. The Advanced Open Water Course focuses are on the diving aspects of training and introducing divers to new diving topics and skills.

So what are the Adventure dives which you need to complete?

There are two compulsory dives – Deep Adventure Dive and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive. The Deep Adventure Dive teaches you knowledge and skills required to be a safe diver whilst extending your maximum diving depth to 30 meters. The Underwater Navigation Dive expands on the skills learnt from your Open Water Course, or equivalent, and combines the use of natural navigation with compass navigation whilst using kick cycles and time to measure distance.

For your remaining three Adventure Dives you have a choice of which you can complete (depending on location and availability!)

Some of the most popular ones you will see on offer or hear people talk about are:

Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB)

Fish ID

Night

Boat

Wreck

SMB

Search and Recovery

Still not sure which dives you want to choose? That´s not a problem, majority of the time you can wait and discuss your dive options with your Instructor, find out what they are most passionate about!

There is no time requirements for your Advanced Open Water Course, you can complete it in as much or as little time you choose to do so. Ensure each dive is signed off by your Instructor and the corresponding Knowledge Review, and then when your last dive has been completed your Instructor can send of for that all too important new certification card.
